Welcome To Cullman Veterans Memorial Park

A Place Of Honor...

Cullman Veterans Memorial Park, located off Highway 31 in Cullman, Alabama, sits at the entrance of Sportsman Lake Park. Open year round, the Memorial Park honors those of all branches of service who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Cullman Veterans Memorial Park is home to the Alabama Veterans Memorial Wall. The wall, which the Vietnam Veterans of America, Alabama Chapter 416 built in 1992, lists the names of 1,209 Alabama soldiers killed in Vietnam between 1963 and 1975. Among the names are several Cullman County natives. In addition, the park includes monuments from World War I and II, Korean War, Vietnam War, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. A large, one-of-a-kind cement waving flag and an Army tank are also on display. The latest addition to the park is a visitors pavilion designed to seat approximately 150 people.

Veterans Memorial Park Main Gate Raising of the Flag ceremony

The Cullman Veterans Memorial Park was spearheaded by a group of Cullman County Veterans in 2007. On December 7, 2009, a dedication ceremony was held, marking completion of the first phase of the project which included moving all the existing monuments from the Cullman County Courthouse and obtaining the traveling Vietnam Wall. The ceremony included comments from Rep. James Fields, presentation of the colors, the national anthem by the Wallace State Community College saxophone quartet, and recognition of local veteran groups. Since then, sidewalks have been constructed, park benches installed, and landscaping done. A pavilion was also built over the Vietnam Wall and a fence and gate installed.
